The Vezo, sometimes called the “nomads of the sea”, form a people of Madagascar who used to occupy all the southwest coast of the big island and living mainly fishing. The Vezo are one of the last nomadic ethnic groups in Madagascar. Fishermen, they leave far from their village. During this period, they bivouac in the dunes, using the square sail of their canoe as a tent. We invite you to discover a rich and authentic culture.

DAY 2 & 3: ANAKAO
is the largest fishing village Vezo, it is mainly accessible by fast boat from Tulear in less than an hour. It is a typical village with its sparkling sandy beaches bordered on one side by a strip of coastal dunes with endemic flora, on the other by a lagoon with transparent and changing waters. Two coral islands surround Anakao and its lagoon, Nosy Ve, home to Madagascar’s only tailed straw colony and Nosy Satrana, right inside the lagoon. Both islands are popular excursion destinations by pirogue or boat. To do first: the visit by canoe of the island Nosy Ve for ½ day. The island of Nosy Ve is home to a unique bird colony in Madagascar: the straw-tail, also called “red-tailed phaeton”. They hide all over the island to lay eggs and hatch. The site is also ideal for whale watching along the coast during the austral winter. The place is sacred, and houses “tromba” huts, a cult of reincarnation and possession. Nearby, you can discover the baobab forest and the turtle reserve. Activities to do during your stay in Anakao: - Surfing, windsurfing, canoeing – scuba diving, big game fishing … Overnight at the hotel
DAY 4: ANAKAO- TSIMANAMPETSOTSA
Beautiful sandy track along most of the coast. Small hook towards Tsimananpetsotsa Lake National Park, refuge of flamingos: The Tsimanampesotse National Park is an oasis which is articulated around a lake about fifteen kilometers long whose milky waters harbor, with length years of flamingo colonies. Calcareous escarpments under which strange grottoes enclose a rare blind and immaculate fish; typhletris. The fauna and especially the bird life is extremely abundant and varied. Baobabs, pachypodiums, alluaudias, banians rooted in deep avens are the most characteristic of a 90% flora endemic to these countries. The walk is done on 3 sites: 1st point at the lake where we can observe the flamingos, 2nd point the cave of the blind fish and walk in the forest (many baobabs), 3rd point: very beautiful panoramic view of the lake. Back to Ankao at the end of the afternoon. Night at the hotel
